Start with people who've been reviewed

Ask for a clear, written quote
A good plumber will happily give you an itemised quote — call-out fee, labour, parts and VAT — before starting. Be wary of anyone who only gives a vague 'we'll see when we get there' figure. Get quotes from at least two so you know the fair range.
Check they'll handle your specific job
