Free Pula app for Birmingham students
If you are a student or young person in Birmingham, it can take time to find your people, settle into the city and hear about the right opportunities at the right moment. Pula is being built to make that easier in a simple, community-first way, and it is free to join.
Pula is for people who want more than just another app. It brings together useful parts of everyday life in one place: a local marketplace and Pula Food, jobs, homes and property, learning and skills, community groups, Pula Live, free voice and video calls, respectful dating through Pula Love, supportive safety tools and private location circles with Pula Locate. Women join free forever, there are no hidden fees, and Pula does not sell your data.
For students in Birmingham, that can mean one space where you can look for part-time work, discover rooms or housing options, connect with people who understand your background, join interest groups and keep in touch with friends and family. If you are new to the city, from the African or Caribbean diaspora, or simply looking for a more welcoming digital community, Pula is designed with warmth and respect at its centre.
Birmingham is full of energy, but it can also feel busy and disconnected, especially when you are balancing lectures, shifts, rent, travel and trying to build a social life. From Aston and Edgbaston to Selly Oak, Perry Barr and the city centre, young people often need practical help as much as social connection. Pula aims to support both. It is a place to discover what is happening locally, meet others through shared interests and stay connected in a way that feels grounded and human.
Pula is also launching with the wider community in mind. The official launch takes place on Wednesday 14 October 2026, from 2pm to 4pm at the Library of Birmingham in Centenary Square. It is a chance to learn more about the platform and the vision behind it.
What matters most is honesty. Pula is free to join. It is community-first. It includes supportive safety features, but it is not an emergency service, and if anyone is ever in immediate danger they should always call 999.
